Is The Cup Half Full Or Half Empty?

We have just passed the halfway point of this, the third, segment.  Are you optimistic or pessimistic regarding your chances to bring home the money? Ultimately, I guess, it would depend upon where you are sitting in the standings at this point.  Nevertheless, at this point in the segment most all of us start to assess the question of, do I have a shot at some 3rd segment money.  Additionally, in this segment, we are keeping our eye on the Chase standings to see if we have a legitimate shot at bringing home the really big Chase money!  With that in mind we can check out our picks.

Let’s look at our Charlotte picks

For the second week in a row there are seven drivers that have two players each betting the farm on their performance.  “David The Mudslinging Throttle Jockey” and Edie are putting all their marbles in Dale Earnhardt, Jr.’s marble sack for Charlotte.

There are two players “sticking with The Biff”, Dawn and “Karen The Highly Opinionated Southern Belle”.

“A&M Aggie Sue” and Carlton are banking that Clint Bowyer can not only keep his race car under control, no spinning out all by himself, but quite possibly, win the race as well.

Furthermore, brothers “Jerry The Buschwacker” and “Jim, aka Chiefy” are hoping that “Mr. Five-Time”, Jimmie Johnson will start to pull away from the pack, establish his Chase dominance, and win the race.

Likewise, Carole and Marc are putting their fortunes with the current Chase points leader, Matt Kenseth.

Additionally, Zee and “Richard The NASCAR Picker” are giving a vote of confidence to Carl Edwards this Sunday.

Lastly, “Jason The Latent Tie Dye Hippie” and his brother “Jeremy The Coach” will be “betting the farm” on the Farmer’s Insurance car of Kasey Kahne.

The previously mentioned players accounts for fourteen of the seventeen players.  The remaining three players not mentioned are obviously in “bidnez” for themselves!

Midway Through The Chase

If the Chase were to end right now the winner would be “Jerry The Buschwacker”.

Herein lies the rationale:  Jerry has selected Matt Kenseth as the Chase winner, along with Carlton, Dawn, “Bernie The Bay Area Bandit”, and “Dan The Numbers Cruncher”.  Looking further, Jerry has Jimmie Johnson in second place, as does “Dan The Numbers Dude”.

Looking further to both of these players third place selections is where the delineation occurs.  Jerry has Jeff Gordon as his third place choice, and “The Numbers Dude” has Carl Edwards.  Jeff Gordon, as of right now, is resting in fourth place.  Carl Edwards, on the other hand, is lodged down in eleventh place. Therefore, if the season were to be over right now, “Jerry The Buschwacker” would be awarded the big money, because his choice for third is ahead of Dan’s choice for third!

However, this is only the midway point, race six of the Chase, not the end of the Chase!  So my suggestion to “Jerry The Buschwacker” is not to count his chickens before they hatch!

Good luck to all this Saturday night at Charlotte!

Thirteen drivers, six races, one championship, who will be the last man standing!

TIL NEXT TIME, PULL YOUR GLOVES UP, FLIP YOUR VISOR DOWN, AND LET’S GO RACIN’!
