Sunday is the last race in the first segment.  To some it is the opportunity to snag some much needed cash.  To others it will be a sigh of good riddance!

Unless Jerry’s pick, “Mr. Five-Time”, Jimmie Johnson crashes out on the first lap, which after his performance in the the All-Star Race is highly unlikely, he will take the first place prize money   home for the first segment!  However, the second, third and last place money is all up for grabs.  With Edie and Marc locked up in a tie for second place money, and yours truly sitting just three points behind that duo, the race for both second and third places are still up for grabs.

Looking at the picks for both Edie and Marc, each could have a very good day at Charlotte this Sunday.  Edie’s hopes for finishing well in this segment rests in the hands of Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and Marc’s luck rides squarely with last years Coca Cola 600 winner, Carl Edwards!

For Leon to do well this Sunday, and finish in the money, “Blazingly Bad” Brad Keselowski needs a finish much like the one he had last Saturday night in the All-Star race, second place. This would be my best finish in the fantasy league in quite a few years!

Lurking in my heals are two more players that have had surge in the standings as of late.  Just three points behind me is the lady who took most all of our money last season, Bernie.  Her hopes for some money rides with probably the odds on favorite to win the race from the Hendrick Motorsports stable, ol “Mr. Five-Time”, Jimmie Johnson.  There was a stretch of races, in the not too distant past, that Johnson owned the Charlotte Motor Speedway.  Back then the race track was known by his sponsor’s name, the Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

Just one marker behind Bernie is Scott.  For Scott to leap frog some of us into the last money position, he really needs for his choice, Ryan Newman, to be “Army Strong”, and lead the pack to the checkered late Sunday night!

And last but not least, there is a hotly contested race for the prestigious “Boudreauax’s Butt Paste Award” for last place, and some token money!  Even though Richard is presently our “cellar dweller”, David, who for nine weeks had a solid grip on last place, is only four points from plunging back into the bottom.  Nevertheless, I will be eagerly awaiting to see who will prevail as the player who had the worst luck of all in selecting drivers each and every week this segment!

Good luck on the final race of this segment!

On a more serious note:
Even tough this is the official start to the summer, I would ask all of us to take time this weekend to think about, acknowledge, and appreciate our military.  Without the sacrifices that those who are in the military have taken, most likely none of us would be able to enjoy this thing that we call freedom.  Remember that it is the sacrifices of our fathers, our mothers, our brothers, and our sisters, that have allowed this country to remain a viable democracy.

Very simply put, our finest young men and women put their lives on the line so that the rest of the Americans can enjoy our freedom!  As we have found out, all too often, the price of freedom is NEVER free!

I would like to take this time to honor and thank my friends, and my family, that has served this country in the armed forces!  You have allowed me to enjoy something that I really love, RACING!!

I SALUTE YOU, THE TRUE AMERICAN HEROES!

TIL NEXT TIME, PULL YOUR GLOVES TIGHT, FLIP YOUR VISOR DOWN, AND LET’S GO RACIN’!
