BREAKING NEWS:
Dale Earnhardt, Jr. ends his 143 race winless streak at the same track that he won his first points race for Hendrick Motorsports four years earlier, Michigan International Speedway!
I must admit that being a HUGE Dale Jr. fan, this is the day that I have been waiting to celebrate for an agonizing 143 races! Nevertheless, it was Father’s Day and not having had a Father’s Day gathering with both of my grown sons in many, many years, I was invited to have a great lunch with my sons and their families, something that I could not resist. Therefore, I missed celebrating my favorite driver’s first win in four years!!
You all know that Mastercard commercial about the cost of all the things that go with your vacation and then the last item’s cost………priceless. Well, having lunch with my boys, their spouse and girlfriend, grandchildren and almost grandchildren was priceless, even though I missed a JUNIOR NATION milestone victory!
Now for some Redneck Fantasy League news.
Only one person had picked Dale Earnhardt, Jr.as race winner, Carolyn. Therefore, by doing so, Carolyn secured the maximum number of points for the day, 48.
Marc and yours truly had Tony Stewart as their driver for the Quicken Loans 400, and scored the second highest tally of points. “Smoke” came through with 43 points for that duo.
Matt Kenseth gave two of our players, Jim and Karen, the next highest total of points with 42. Kenseth’s teammate, Greg Biffle, provided Bernie, Dawn, and Dan with the third highest point total for the Quicken Loans 400, 41 big ones.
Now for the biggest movers and shakers of the week, most of that news is negative.
Edie plunged seven places after pick of Denny Hamlin yielded a mere 10 points Sunday! Jerry, too, was a victim of low performance. His choice of ol Kylie Busch garnered him only 12 points for Sunday, and thereby losing six places in the points standings. Likewise, another negative mover was Carole, loosing four spots in the standings
On the positive side of movement, yours truly rocketed up five places in the standings with my choice of “Smoke” Sunday. Karen also climbed up the list by four places after the Michigan race.
Next week the series moves out to “the left coast”, in the heart of “the wine country”, landing at the former Sears Point Raceway, Infineon Raceway, however, now it is now known as the Sonoma Raceway. It is time for the boys and girl to toss their race cars both left and right. It is the first of two road courses that is on the schedule.
TIL NEXT TIME, PULL YOUR GLOVES UP, FLIP YOUR VISOR DOWN, AND LET’S GO RACIN’!
