The “regular season” has ended and the Chase begins!
NASCAR is moving into the windy city to start the 2012 Chase. that is a huge change from the past year of having the first Chase race in Louden,N.H. Now is the time fo the season where the culling knife gets used to decipher the differences between the contenders and the pretenders!
It appears to this reporter that there is not a real clear cut favorite going into the Chase, however, Denny Hamlin was on a semi-roll, winning two of the last three races. But can he close the deal? That has been his biggest negative over the last three years.
For those detractors, and I have been one of them, never overlook the HMS #48 Lowe’s team. “Mr. Five-Time”, Jimmie Johnson, is there lurking in the number 2 seed. Do not count that team out!
Could this be the year that a new face claims the Sprint Cup championship, maybe “Blazingly Bad” Brad K? This could be the year that finally “sticking woth the Biff” pays off!
How about ol “under the radar”, Matt Kenseth? It would be very provocative if he won the championship, considering he is leaving RFR, and heading to Joe Gbbs Racing for 2013!
What about the rest of the Hendrick Motorsoprts drivers? Can Kasey Kahne perform more consitently, and possibly steal the crown jewel? Does “Big Daddy”, Jeff Gordon, have enough fire burning in his belly for one more run at the championship?
Finally, is this the year that Dale, Jr. emerges out from the shadows of greatness, and his ever looming father’s image, to finally put an exclamation point on his career?
The next 12 races will, no doubt, unfold like a daytime soap opera!
Let’s check out our picks for Chase race number one!
The number one pick among the players for Chicagoland Sunday is Tony Stewart. there are four players that put all their marbles into Smoke’s sack! Those players are Edie, Jason, Dawn, and Jeremy.
There are three players that are “sticking with the Biff”! those individuals are Jerry, Carlton, and Carolyn.
Kenseth, Harvick, and Edwards each have two players riding shotgun with them. Karen and Marc are rooting on Matt Kenseth Sunday. Zee and Dan are hoping that Harvick and his Budweiser beer wagon rolls into victory lane Sunday. Whereas, Jim and Carole are hoping that Carl Edwards will perform another back flip at the end of Sunday’s race.
The other five players are in business for themselves and have individual picks for Sunday.
Good Luck to all!
Twelve drivers, ten races, one championship, who will be the last man standing?
TIL NIEXT TIME, PULL YOUR GLOVES UP, FLIP YOUR VISOR DOWN, AND LET’S GO RACIN’!
