The off-season is just about over, the off-season testing is complete, the haulers are en route to “The World Center of Speed”, Daytona, and it is time for NASCAR to start its engines!
It doesn’t seem like three months since “Blazingly Bad” Brad Keselowski upset the NASCAR establishment to win the 2012 Sprint Cup championship at Homestead-Miami Speedway, back in November.
As the haulers, with the Gen 6 cars as their cargo, head down “tobacco road” and unload at Daytona on Thursday, there will be a new sheriff in town parking in the #1 garage stall, “Bad Brad”! He now will become the hunted, not the hunter! There is bulls eye painted squarely on his back! The big question is; can he defend his championship?
Who will be the last man standing at Homestead-Miami Speedway?
It is T-36 races and counting!
As for all of us at The Redneck Fantasy League, we all get a fresh start in establishing our bragging rights as to who is the the best “NASCAR PICKER“! However, lest I not confuse myself with my cousin, Richard “The NASCAR Picker”! In years gone by, he was suspected by yours truly, the Sheriff, of having some inside information. However, he was never indicted, nor convicted of said crime!
I digressed!
With a new race season comes the opportunity for the drivers, and our players alike, to dream about having a good race season. Even though our players won’t be garnering millions of dollars for their work, unlike the upper tier Sprint Cup drivers, nevertheless, we can dream about our little nest egg that is possible each and every segment, and the big pot that comes with the Chase money!! Jason can attest to what is was like to “take all the marbles” for his Chase pick last season!
Therefore, and I don’t know about you, but I am going to turn on my TV this weekend, watch the Sprint Unlimited in order to glean some knowledge as to who might be ready “to let the big dog eat”! I am ready to taste some of that first place money this year, for a change. I really get tired of just signing the checks! I would like to write one out that says pay to the order of “The Sheriff”!! I can dream, you know!
