The drivers and the crews have loaded up and headed back down the interstate to Charlotte by now. But that doesn’t mean that their tempers have calmed down, nor does it mean that their egos have recovered from being “Bristoled“! The one thing that these bullrings of NASCAR brings to the surface is revenge, anger, bruised egos, and crumpled sheet metal. Today was more of the aforementioned frustrations that happens each and every time that NASCAR returns to Bristol, Martinsville, and Richmond, to name a few tracks!
Last week I was privy to witness, in person, the domination by Kasey Kahne for 240 of a the 267 laps, however, he failed to close the deal for a victory. Today, however, Kahne pulled it altogether to log his first victory of the 2013 season, by winning the Food City 500 at Bristol!
Movers and Shakers
Both Karen and Carole selected Kasey Kahne today, and was rewarded nicely with 47 points today! With those 47 points today, Karen took sole control of first place by 109 points over Zee. Zee had a very good day as well, scoring 42 points from her selection of “Blazingly Bad” Brad Keselowski, who finished third today.
Bernie was the next highest scorer, with 37 points, riding on the coattails of Ryan Newman. Jerry had a reasonably fine Sunday with Kevin Harvick. Harvick finished 14th, giving Jerry 30 points for the afternoon.
As was previously mentioned, Karen is now atop the leader board all by herself.
The largest movement by any one player came from “Bernie The Bay Area Bandit”, who climbed five (5) places in the standings after the first four races. The next biggest shaker was Dan. He shook himself down four places in the standings from 8th place down to 12th place!
There were five players who moved five three spots in the standings. Carole and Jason moved up three spots to third and sixth, respectively. However, there were three players who fell three spots in the standings. Dawn fell from a tie for first with Karen, to fourth place this week. Sue fell from fourth place to seventh place. Lastly, yours truly fell from fifth place to land in eighth place this week. The rest of the crew pretty much held serve this week!
Next week the series moves back out West, to Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA. “You know that all the leaves are brown and the sky is gray, I’ve been for a walk on a winter’s day. I’d be safe an warm, if I was in LA. California Dreamin’ on such a winter’s day!”
TIL THEN, PULL YOU GLOVES UP, FLIP YOUR VISOR DOWN, AND LET’S GO RACIN’!
