This week NASCAR made its second, and final, trip to the Left Coast for NASCAR’s first of two annual road races.  Usually the race at Sonoma can be very mundane and boring, however, there were some really interesting parts to this race.  A couple of the usually strong road racers did not fare so well.  Joe Gibbs Racing teammates, Denny Hamlin and ol Kylie Busch got to develop some of their “off road” skills when they were each sent spinning off the track and onto the dirt today.

The win today made it back to back, for Michael Waltrip Racing.  Last year it was Clint Bowyer winning however,, this year it was the MWR #56 NAPA Toyota driven by Martin Truex, Jr. the first to see the checkered flag, at the Toyota SaveMart 350 at Sonoma Raceway!

Movers and Shakers

Zee was the only player to pick the race winner, Martin Truex, Jr. this week, snagging the brass ring and 48 points!

Four players grabbed 43 points this week.  Sue, Edie, Jeremy, and Bernie all ran with Jeff Gordon this week, and were rewarded very nicely.

Karen and Dawn’s pick, Carl Edwards, yielded to them 41 points this week.  “Leon The Redneck Sheriff” and Marc were, collectively, hoping for the elder foul-mouthed Busch brother, Kurt, to have an excellent afternoon.  Kurt did, indeed, have a very good afternoon, finishing fourth today for Furniture Row Racing, and thereby, rewarding Leon and Marc 41 points.

“Jason The Latent Tie Dye Hippie” and “Dan The Numbers Cruncher” selected last year’s race winner, Clint Bowyer, and collected 39 points.

Both Jim and Richard each earned 38 points with two different drivers.  Jim’s selection was the Australian road race wizard Marcos Ambrose, while “Richard The NASCAR Picker” was rooting for Kasey Kahne Sunday.

The biggest mover of this week was none other than the recent recipient of our new “Outhouse Award”.  This week “David The Mudslinging Throttle Jockey” fell in the standings, like a bomb dropped from the bomb bay of a B-52, loosing ten (10) spots this week.  That landed David now in 15th place!

Both Zee and Dawn climbed up three (3) places this week.  Bernie and Dan each moved up on the totem pole two places.  Jason, Jim, and Leon each climbed up just one spot this week.

Carole dropped two spots, and Jerry moved down one place this week.

The top four in the standings, Sue, Edie, Jeremy, and Marc all held serve, and their positions, this week!

Next week NASCAR moves to a place that is used to horsepower, Kentucky.  However, this weekend the horsepower does not revolve around four legged horses. Instead, it involves a 3400 lb., 850 horsepower, gas guzzling, door slammer!

Good luck to everyone at Kentucky.
