Jimmie Johnson becomes the first Sprint Cup driver to sweep both Daytona races in a single season since Bobby Allison accomplished this way back in 1982, that is 31 years! By winning the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona, Johnson has now tied Matt Kenseth for the most wins in 2013, four victories apiece.
Let it be said that there was a thorough butt kicking administered to the entire field by the HMS #48 Lowe’s Chevy Saturday night!
Movers and Shakers
“Richard The NASCAR Picker” was the only player that picked the eventual winner, Jimmie Johnson, and thus, garnering the maximum 48 points. Our points leader, Marc, was the second highest scorer with Tony Stewart as his pick. That pick gave Marc a cool 42 points for his efforts. “Jeremy The Coach” and “David The Mudslinging Throttle Jockey” each picked Kevin Harvick, who finished third, giving them each 41 points.
There were six players who were rolling the dice with Dale Earhardt, Jr. Those players, “Bernie The Bay Area Bandit”, “Jason the Latent Tie Dye Hippie”, Carole, “A&M Aggie Sue”, Jim, Zee, and “Leon The Humble Sheriff”, all scored 36 points.
Once again, there was large scale movement from within the standings this week.
There were three players that tied with the single largest weekly move in the standings. Unfortunately these three players, Dawn, Carlton, and “Dan the Numbers Cruncher” all pulled a catastrophic nosedive! All three players fell eight (8) places in the standings, Dawn landed in 13th place, Carlton 14th , and “Dan The Numbers Cruncher” landed in 15th place this week.
Jerry was not far behind those three in his fall from grace, plummeting seven (7) places, and landing in 12th place!
“Richard The NASCAR Picker”, with his pick of the race winner, rocketed up seven (7) spots in the standings to land in 5th place. “David The Mudslinging Throttle Jockey” climbed up six (6) places in the standings this week, now residing in 9th place. “Jason the Latent Tie Dye Hippie” also had a great weekend moving up five (5) places, sitting now in 8th place.
Zee, “Jeremy The Coach”, and “Leon The Humble Sheriff” all crept up four (4) spots this week.
Straight From The Crapper
This week the limelight is shining brightly on the three players who lost eight (8) places on the totem pole. Dawn’s pick of Joey Logano gave her a grand total of 4 points this week!
Carlton and “Dan The Numbers Cruncher” each scored only a few points more than Dawn, 12 points total!
With the smoking hot scores that these three players gathered after the Coke Zero 400, it would appear that each of them are making a serious run for the prestigious “Outhouse Award” for this segment! Look out world!
Next week NASCAR moves up to the Northeast, for a race at the “Magic Mile” at Louden, N.H.
Good luck to all!
TIL NEXT TIME, PULL YOU GLOVES UP, FLIP YOUR VISOR DOWN, AND LET’S GO RACIN’!
