With just three races to go before the beginning of The Chase, Joey Logano put his Penske Racing Shell/Pennzoil #22 into victory lane at the Pure Michigan 400. It was his first victory since climbing into the driver’s seat of that Penske Racing Ford.
Movers and Shakers
This week the high scorer was “A&M Aggie Sue”! She pocketed 40 points from Paul Menard’s fourth place finish in the Pure Michigan 400. Marc gathered up 39 points when his had a fairly good Sunday, scoring 34 points choice, Clint Bowyer, put his MWR 5Hr Energy Toyota right behind Paul Menard, and finished in fifth place. Jeremy scored 34 points on the 10th place finish that Carl Edwards gave him.
Additionally, both Carlton and “Richard The NASCAR Picker” decided to stick with their original pick of Tony Stewart, and his fill-in driver, Austin Dillon, this week. Even though Dillon had a rough start, he was able to bring the Stewart-Haas Racing Mobil1 Chevy home in 14th place. That was good enough to give them both 30 points.
There was a bevy of players, five to be more specific, that were putting their late segment fortunes in the hands of Matt Kenseth. Kenseth did not have a particularly great race at Michigan, however, his 15th place finish gave “David the Mudslinging Throttle Jockey”, Dawn, “Jason the Latent Tie Dye Hippie”, Jim, and yours truly, “Leon the Most Humble Sheriff”, 29 points for the race.
This week there were only six (6) players who did not move in the standings, Carole, “David The Mudslinging Throttle Jockey”, “Richard The NASCAR Picker”, Zee, “Jeremy The Coach”, and Marc.
The two biggest movers this week are “Jerry The Buschwacker” and “Bernie The Bay Area Bandit”. “Jerry The Buschwacker” was mistakenly riding high with Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Unfortunately Junior scraped the wall, fell to the back of the pack, and yielded only 9 points. With that catastorphic results, Jerry fell four spots in the standings!
“Bernie The Bay Area Bandit’s” hope for a great race fell on “Mr. Five-Time”, Jimmie Johnson’s shoulders today. However, Johnson’s luck took a dump when he blew a motor early in the race, yielding only 5 points for his efforts! Bernie also plummeted four spots in the standings!
“Dan the Numbers Cruncher” likewise did not have a very productive Sunday. His choice of Dale Earnhardt, Jr. gave him only nine points, and thusly he plummeted three spots this week.
On the positive side, there were a few players who benefitted from their choices this week. Carlton, “Jason The Latent Tie Dye Hippie”, and Dawn all climbed up the ladder three places.
The top five players who are vying for the money with one race left are; Edie, Marc,“Karen The Highly Opinionated Southern Belle”, and “Jeremy The Coach”. However, “Jerry the Buschwacker” and Zee are within striking distance of the money, back just 9 and 25 points from the money!
Straight From The Crapper
With just one race left in this segment, it would appear that Carole has a firm grip on “the Crapper”! She has a 29 point edge on our perennial celllar dweller, “David the Mudslinging throttle Jockey”! Nevertheless, it would appear that “The Outhouse Award” is Carole’s for the loosing this segment!
Next week NASCAR makes it’s last appearance in “The Colosseum of Crash”, better known as Bristol Motor Speedway. It is one of the paces that all drivers and crewmembers must check their feelings, and their weapons at the pit gate!
Good luck to all who may be in desperate need of some good luck this segment!
TIL NEXT TIME, PULL YOUR GLOVES UP, FLIP YOUR VISOR DOWN, AND LET’S GO RACIN’!
