Well it finally happened, the 2013 Sprint Cup champ, “Blazingly Bad” Brad Keselowski, won his first race of the season! It only took the defending Sprint Cup champ 26 races to pull off the fete! “Bad Brad” was the first of the non-Chasers to win a race in the final ten events of this year.
Movers and Shakers
None of our soothsaying players had the omniscience to have selected Keselowski this week. Notwithstanding that fact, however, The Redneck Fantasy Fantasy League’s second generation Hammack brothers, “Jason The Latent Tie Dyed Hippie” and “Jeremy The Coach”, each scored big with their pick of second place Kasey Kahne. They gathered up a cool 44 points for their selection of Kahne!
Both Marc and Carole did not do so badly Saturday night at Charlotte, either. This duo racked up 42 points from the choice of Matt Kenseth, who just happened to cross the finish line in third place in the Bank America 500.
Two thirds of The Redneck Fantasy League’s first generation Hammack brothers, “Jim, aka Chiefy” and “Jerry The Buschwacker” were paired up with “Mr. Five-Time”, Jimmie Johnson, Saturday night. They both left the races with nifty 41 points.
Three players grabbed 35 points Saturday night. Both “Richard The NASCAR Picker” and Zee were riding all night with Carl Edwards, and was rewarded 35 points for Edwards’ 10th place finish. Additionally, “Leon Your Most Humble Sheriff” scored 35 points from Denny Hamlin’s remarkably good finish of 9th place.
Both Carlton and “A&M Aggie Sue” gathered up 34 points for their selection of Clint “I can’t believe that I am still not spinning out” Bowyer!
Lastly, Edie and “David The Mudslinging Throttle Jockey” were riding with NASCAR’s most popular driver, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Saturday night. Even though Junior was very strong in the early protions of the race, he apparently broke some part of his suspension system, and fell back to finish 15th. Therefore, this duo scored 30 points at Charlotte.
This week there really was no widespread large movement from within the standings.
The single largest movers were Edie and Dawn. Both of these ladies tumbled three places in the standings landing in 7th and 14th, respectively.
Straight From The Crapper
There was no changing of “The Keeper of The Crap House”. Zee has a firm grip on that position this week. She now has a fairly secure lead over “David The Mudslinging Throttle Jockey”, now totaling 11 points!
As far as a player showing their superiority for “the crappiest pick of the week”, I am having to dig really deep for this one! “Bernie The Bay Area Bandit” logged the lowest score of all the players this week. She racked up 22 points for Martin Truex, Jr.’s 22nd place finish. I told you that I was really having to dig deep down for that award!
We are now officially half way through the ten races of The Chase. As I have always said when faced with adversity, “it is time to let the big dog eat”! We are now starting to get a good look at just who are the contenders, and who are the pretenders!
Next week is the ultimate wild card race, Talladega! Anything can, and usually will happen there! After all it is not just another race track, it is TALLADEGA, baby!
Good luck to all.
TIL NEXT TIME, PULL YOUR GLOVES UP,FLIP YOUR VISOR DOWN, AND LET’S GO RACIN’!
