Jimmie Johnson

It appears that the ol Jimmie Johnson/Chad Knauss freight train is just hitting its Chase stride!  Jimmie Johnson had been very un-Jimmie Johnson-like on 1.5-mile ovals this season.  Thirty-three races into 2013, he had yet to win on tracks of that size. Then came Sunday’s AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway and all of that changed.

Johnson dominated the race – the third-to-last of the season – by leading 255 of 334 laps en route to his sixth Sprint Cup victory of the year.

The victory broke his championship-battle tie with Matt Kenseth, who finished fourth.

Johnson will head to Phoenix for next week’s race with a seven-point lead over Kenseth.

Movers and Shakers

Unfortunately, nobody had “Mr. Five-Time”, Jimmie Johnson, as their driver to win the AAA Texas 500.  Nevertheless, three players did very will with their 42 points scored!  “Richard The NASCAR Picker” was riding shotgun in the AMP golden #88 with “Dale Earnhardt, Jr, and was awarded 42 points for his second place finish.  Likewise, Carole and “Jerry The Buschwacker” also logged 42 points, via Joey Logano’s third place finish.

Carlton, “Bernie The Bay Area Bandit”, and “Jeremy The Coach” grabbed 39 points from “Blazingly Bad” Brad Keselowski’s 6th place finish.  “David The Mudslinging Throttle Jockey”, likewise, scored 39 points, however, it was from the results of Kasey Kahne taking the the checkered flag 5th.

Jason had a reasonably good Sunday scoring 36 points.

“Leon The Most Humble Sheriff” kept his second place in the standings alive by logging 33 points.

“A&M Aggie Sue”, “Jim, aka Chiefy”, and Marc all had Kyle Busch and scored 32 points.

Both Edie and “Dan The Numbers Cruncher” were rooting fro Kurt Busch and they each were awarded 27 points for their efforts.

The players in the money places, the top five positions, are the same persons as last week.  The only differences this week is that Jerry and Leon have swapped positions.

The single largest mover this week is Dawn, falling five spots, now residing in 11th place!

Likewise, Karen tumbled, however only falling 2 spots in the standings.

On the positive side, “Bernie The Bay Area Bandit’ and Carlton climbed two spots this week.

Straight From The Crapper

Something good finally befell “David The Mudslinging Throttle Jockey” this week!  David picked Kahne, scored 39 points, and that, my friend, was enough to extract “The Mudlinging Throttle Jockey” from the bowels of “The Outhouse”!

As I have mentioned a few times this year, if you receive a single digit for your pick, you are in line for the weekly “crappiest pick of the week” award.  This week there were two players who logged a single digit for their score!  If you think that only getting 8 points was a horrible day, as Dawn did, and that you may be in line for The Redneck Fantasy League’s “crappiest pick of the week” award, this week you would be getting a reprieve!

Oh yes my fellow Rednecks, Zee trumped Dawn’s 8 points by only getting a microscopic 6 points!  Those 6 points for Zee was the kicker that put her in line for this week’s “crappiest picks of the week”!

In conjunction with Zee getting “the crappiest pick of the week” award, she also ousted “David The Mudslinging Throttle Jockey” from “the Outhouse”, kind of a double whammy for her!

Zee is the new “Governess of The Gashouse”, “The Princess of The Poop House”, and is line now to become the guardian of that illustrious award for the entire off season!

Next week NASCAR, and yours truly, will be hanging out at Phoenix International Raceway for the penultimate race of the 2013 season!

A personal note:

Some of you may not know but one of our players, David Prickett, is facing some huge medical bills.  He and his wife, Brittney, found out recently that their unborn daughter is facing open heart surgery after her birth, expected around the 12th of January.  To say that David and Brittney are facing some staggering medical bill once Davey Jean is born is a gross understatement!  If any of you are inclined to help this young couple out, I will publish the link to the fund that was established for Davey Jean.

Here is the link to donate to that fund:   http://www.razoo.com/br/causes/Hearts-For-Davey-Jean

In light of the Christmas season that is rapidly approaching, a donation to David and Brittney’s young daughter and their medical bills would sure be for a great cause!

Isn’t there a saying that goes something like this; “it is better to give than to receive”?

TIL NEXT TIME, PULL YOUR GLOVES UP, FLIP YOUR VISOR DOWN, AND LET’S GO RACIN’!
