Anyone who may have been calling Kevin Harvick a “lame duck” driver really needs to rethink that thought! Even though Harvick is leaving Richard Childress Racing after next Sunday’s Ford Championship 400 weekend, for the “greener pastures” of Stewart-Haas Racing, and even though Harvick had some extremely harsh words for Childress’ two grandsons, Harvick and his team has performed at the championship level, despite the underlying friction that undoubtedly exists between Childress and Harvick.
Through hard racing, a really well handling race car, and some good luck/Edwards misfortunes, Harvick brings the RCR #29 Budweiser Chevy home in first place Sunday at the Advocare 500. Not only did Harvick win the race, but he led the most laps, garnering a 48 point race day!
Movers and Shakers
Both “Leon Your Most Humble Sheriff” and older brother “Jim, aka Chiefy” scored the maximum points Sunday. They each had Harvick as their selection for the race, and for that they were rewarded with a maximum point day of 48 points.
“Jeremy The Coach” was the second highest scorer of the week. He was able to maintain his lead in the Redneck Fantasy League this week by selecting Jimmie Johnson, and gathered up 42 points for his efforts.
Meanwhile, the stealthy East Bay Bandito, better know as “Bernie The Bay Area Bandit” fared very well. Her pick was the perennial nascar favorite driver of the year, Dale Earnhardt,Jr., and he finished fourth Sunday, giving “The Bandito” 41 points.
Additionally, Marc, “Jason the Latent Tie Dye Hippie”, and Dawn had “Kimosabe” (wrong brother), better known as Kurt Busch as their choice. However, ol “Kimosabe” did those three very well Sunday. They each grabbed a nifty 39 points for their collective efforts.
Scoring almost as many points for his players as his brother did, Kyle Busch gave “David The Mudslinging Throttle Jockey”, Edie, “Jerry The Buschwacker, and “Richard The NASCAR Picker” 37 points.
Carole and “Dan the Numbers Cruncher” garnered up 35 points from Ryan Newman’s 10 place finish.
“A&M Aggie Sue” was all by herself on the scoring pylon this week. She was “sticking with The Biff” all weekend, and her driver gave her 32 points.
Rounding out the results from the Advocare 500 is Carlton, “Karen the Highly Opinionated Southern Belle”, and Zee the present “Princess of The Poop House”. Each of these ladies scored 24 points this week.
Once again there was not a large scale movement on the scoring pylon this week. The single biggest mover was Carlton. His 24 points allowed him to slip three spots, landing him one spot above his wife, Dawn, in 11th place.
Both Marc and “Jim, aka Chiefy” climbed up two spots this week. That movement put those two into the top 10, Marc landing in 8th place, and Jim now resides in 10th place.
“Leon Your Most Humble Sheriff” and Carole climbed up one spot each. Carole landing in 9th place, and “Leon Your Most Humble Sheriff” moved back into a tie for second with one of the chips off of his block, “Jason the Latent Tie Dye Hippie”!
Lastly, Dawn and “Jerry The Buschwacker” feel one place.
Straight From The Crapper
Once again this week I am having to dig really deep for the “crappiest picks of the week” award. This week there is a tie between, “Zee the Reigning Princess of The Poop House”, and “Karen The Highly Opinionated Southern Belle”. Even though they scored 24 points, they were the lowest scoring players of the week. I did say that I would have to dig really deep for this award, didn’t I?
With just one race left in this segment, and this year, it looks like Zee has a very good chance of taking home the coveted hardware! She has a18 point lead on David, but that is not a lock, by any stretch of the imagination! The race for “The Outhouse Award” could be a real nail biter! David and Zee, just make sure that your hands are clean before biting your nails. Otherwise, it could rally be a real crappy ordeal!
Next week it is the Ford Championship weekend. Having made this race quite a few years ago with Jim and Jerry, when ol “Kemosabe” (wrong brother), Kurt Busch, won his championship, it is a very cool race weekend to attend. There is a lot of pageantry and excitement involved at Homestead. However, I will be watching it on TV, just like most of the rest of The Redneck Fantasy League players this weekend.
I would be very remiss if I take time to say thank you to all my friends and family that served this great country! Without their commitment and sacrifices I would not have the ability to enjoy one of my passions, racing!
Thank you from the very bottom of my heart!
For my USAF friends, AIM HIGH! Army Strong! Semper Fidelis! And Anchors Aweigh!
TIL NEXT TIME, PULL YOUR GLOVES UP, FLIP YOUR VISOR DOWN, AND LET’S GO RACIN’!
