Kevin Harvick starts off the new season with a new team, Stewart-Haas Racing #4 Jimmy Johns Chevy, and a victory in his hip pocket, most assuredly guarenteing Harvick a spot in The Chase.. Harvick crossed the finish line first at The Profit on CNBC 500(k) Sprint Cup Series race at Phoenix International Raceway for his 1st win of 2014, his 5th win at Phoenix, and his 24th career victory. “Happy” Harvick thoroughly dominated the field all afternoon at Phoenix International Raceway, leading 224 out of the 312 laps of the race!

The Movers and Shakers

Three players picked the winner at Phoenix this week!  Edie, Bernie “The Bay Area Bandit”, and Jim,aka “Chiefy” all selected Kevin Harvick to win the Phoenix race, and thereby grabed the max points, 48 big ones!

Dawn was the second highest scorer this week.  Her selection was “Blazingly Bad” Brad Keselowski and for his third place finish, Dawn logged 42 points.  Both Jason “The Latent Tie Dye Hippie” and his younger brother, Jeremy “The Coach”, were riding shotgun in the HMS Lowe’s #48 Chevy with “Six Pack”, Jimmie Johnson this week, and scored 38 points.  Additionally, “A&M Aggie Sue” and Dan “The Numbers Cruncher” was seen hanging out at their local Subway shop and rooting for “Cousin Carl” to win the race.  Zee, too, had a very good weekend, picking Kasey Kahne and scoring 33 points.

Lastly, both Jerry “The Buschwacker” and Karen “The Highly Opinionated Southern Belle” were seen shopping at the Dollar General Store, as well as also grabbing some home improvement stuff at Home Depot!  From the efforts of Matt Kenseth’s 12th place finish, both players were rewarded with 32 points.

Straight From The Crapper

This week there are two players that tied for “the crappiest pick of the week award”.  In fact, both of these players are no stranger to “crappy picks”!  Both David “The Mudslinging Throttle Jockey” and Marc seem to be able to reach down really deep, when the pressure is really on, and put one of those microscopic single digit results up on the scoreboard!

Continuing my discussion about “crappy picks”, Marc’s big 5 points this week, coupled with his single digit performance in the Daytona 500 of 9 big points, has really cemented his place for a while on the throne of “The Outhouse”!

FYI: Marc’s closest competitor for “The Outhouse Award” is  27 points away in the person of David “The Mudslinging Throttle Jockey”.

Here is a video salute to the Bakersfield native and winner of the Phoenix race, Kevin Harvick!

TIL NEXT TIME, PULL YOUR GLOVES UP, FLIP YOUR VISOR DOWN, AND LET’S GO RACIN’!
