The first road race of the year is coming up this weekend at Sonoma. Unlike in “the good old days”, when most NASCAR drivers just wanted to get through the races at Sonoma (formerly Sears Point, then Infineon) and Watkins Glen, there are many really good road racers in the NASCAR family of drivers. Therefore, the race at Sonoma, this weekend, will be a very, very good and competitive Sunday afternoon! Furthermore, there is a couple of handfuls of drivers that are very capable of bringing home the hardware from Sonoma.
Our Sonoma Picks
The overwhelming choice this week is Kurt Busch. Five players, Lonna, Dawn, “Doug The Former Mudslinger, Pyschic, Now Turned Kettle Corn Dude”, “Jason The Latent Tie Dye Hippie” and yours truly, “Leon The Former Airline Captain, Cotton Picker, and Part-Time Cardiologist”, are all hoping that KuBu can lead the pack to the checkered flag Sunday.
The one foreign born driver in the NASCAR field has four players riding shotgun with him this week. “Jerry the Buschwacker”, “A&M Aggie Sue”, “Jim, aka, Chiefy”, and “Jeremy the Coach” all are hoping that Marcos Ambrose will be the dominating race car at the end of the day.
Both “Karen The Highly Opinionated Southern Belle” and Marc are putting all their marbles in Denny Hamlin’s marble bag this week.
Lastly, “Dan the Numbers Cruncher” and “Bernie The Bay Area Bandit” are hoping that “Mr. Four-Time”, Jeff Gordon, will have one more road course victory left in him.
For the remaining seven players not mentioned above, and we know what is coming, are all “in bidnez” for themselves!
TIL NEXT TIME, PULL YOUR GLOVES UP,FLIP YOUR VISOR DOWN, AND LET’S GO RACIN’!
