Jeff Gordon

This week we all get a fresh start for this, our final segment of the 2015 season.  As I pointed out in the last post when I tallied up the total points scored for the first two segments, this segment becomes very important!  The players who are in the top five in total points stand a very good chance of being the top scorer of the season, thus grabbing some big bucks and a cool personalized plaque for their efforts. Even though you may not be within the top five scorers, but you are within the top ten scorersand you have a really great segment, it is quite possible to be in contention for the big bucks.  All you would need to do this segment to win some big money is to take the high groove, keep the revs up, get a great run down the back straight-away, sail that bad boy deep into turn four, and drive it hard to the finish line!

However, if you fail to grab the championship money, there is alway the chance of grabbing The Chase money with the right picks, which would make anyone happy, as well!

Now for the task at hand, this week NASCAR is celebrating it’s roots and it’s history by going back to “The Lady In Black”, “The Track Too Tough To Tame”, better known as Darlington, one of the oldest tracks still on the schedule. Additionally, this year the race date has been moved back to it’s original race date, Labor Day weekend.  Along with celebrating it’s Darlington roots, many of the race teams have put on retro paint schemes on their race cars, really it has become a vinyl plastic wrap.  For those of us who have been around this sport for a long time, the look this weekend will be very nostalgic!

Our Darlington Picks

To start out this segment, we have two drivers who have five players each in their corner, that is one half of the fantasy league are rooting for just two drivers!  The most sentimental favorite this week is Jeff Gordon, at least that is what Carole, Zee, Lonna The Quilt Angel, Jeremy The Coach, and Jerry The Buschwacker were thinking when they selected him right out of the starting gate.

Not to be out done is the support of Karen The Highly Opinionated Southern Belle, Dawn, Doug The Former Mudslinger and Psychic, Turned Kettle Corn Dude, Edie, and Jason The Latent Tie Dye Hippie and All Around Edgy Dude have given for  the Freaky Fast Kevin Harvick this week.

Meanwhile, Dan The Numbers Dude, Doug, Jr. The Crowned Prince of Kettle Corn, and Leon The Retired Airline Captain, Part-Time Cardiologist and Strawberry Picker, as well as Your Most Humble Sheriff are putting all their marbles in the sack of Matt Kenseth this week.

There are three players, David The Mudslinging Throttle JockeyCarlton The Doorman and Linda The Cookie Mom are hoping that Jimmie Johnson can get out of his mid-season funk, and win number five this weekend.

This week A&M Aggie Sue and Jim, aka Chiefy are hanging tough with retro looking Miller High Life #2 Penske Ford piloted by Blazingly Bad Brad Keselowski.

Lastly, Bernie The Bay Area Bandit and Password Queen and Cole The On Demand Baseball Player are hoping that Joey Logano’s retro-looking Shell/Pennzoil Ford will grease their way to the top of the scoring pylon to start this segment!

That leaves just Brandon and Marc, who are not part of rooting section this week, and are in bidnez for themselves this week!

So as we start our third and final segment for 2015, for those of us who have Redneck Fantasy League big money sugar plums dancing in our heads, we can dream on!

Good luck to all!

TIL NEXT TIME, PULL YOUR GLOVES UP, FLIP YOUR VISOR DOWN, AND LET’ GO RACIN’!
