Martin Truex Jr., in the No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Toyota, won the Coca-Cola 600 with a record 392 laps led in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series on Sunday at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Truex led 588 miles of the 600-mile race, the most led in a NASCAR race. I don’t know about you, but where I come from that is termed an old fashion blue collar butt whippin”!
The previous record for this race was held by Jim Paschal, who led 502.5 miles in the 1967 World 600
The Fraternal Order of The Go Fast
This week, starting out the ne segment, we have three players, Karen The Highly Southern Belle, Jeremy The Coach, as well as Dan The Numbers Cruncher that selected the race winner, Martin Truex, Jr. All three players were rewarded with the maximum of 45 points.
Movers and Shakers
There were nine players, nearly one half of the entire fantasy league, scored 39 points for their Charlotte efforts. Both Carole, aka Rudy and Leon Your Most Humble Sheriff picked the second place finisher,”Freaky Fast” Kevin Harvick, to win the race. Additionally, there were seven players that were riding shotgun with the third place finisher Mr. Six Pack, Jimmie Johnson. Those seven players are Lonna The Quilt Angel, Bobby Blue Crush, Carlton The Doorman, Carole, aka Rudy, Edie The Las Vegas Super Star, A&M Aggie Sue, Bernie The Bay Area Bandit, as well as David The Mudslinging Throttle Jockey.
Our fantasy league newbie, Kathy The Church Forecloser, was the third highest score in her first endeavor! The Forecloser selected Denny Hamlin this week and his fourth place finish gave her 37 points to start off this segment.
Also having a very good race was Jim, aka Chiefy. Ol Chiefy was rooting for Matt Kenseth this week and his 7th place finish gave him a very respectable 34 points.
Rounding out the top five scorers for the week is Jerry The Buschwacker. The Buschwacker was riding shotgun all race with rookie Chase Elliott and received 33 points.
Straight From The Crapper
To begin the second segment we have a tie for “the crappiest pick of the week”. Both Linda The Cookie Mom and Cole The On Demand Baseball Player really did not have a terrible race, however, this dou only scored 19 points from Kasey Kahne and was the lowest scorers of the week. Those 19 points put both of them squarely in “The Outhouse” to start off this segment!
Next week NASCAR heads North to the Pocono Mountains of PA. The race track is actually located about halfway between Allentown and Wilkes-Barre, PA in the heart of “honeymooner country”! (I believe that both Snoopy Dawn and Carlton The Doorman are homies from this area!)
Enjoy the rest of your Memorial Day weekend, please remember what this holiday is all about and “say a prayer for peace”!!
TIL NEXT TIME, PULL YOUR GLOVES UP, FLIP YOUR VISOR DWON, AND LET’S GO RACIN ‘!
