Martin Truex, Jr.

Saturday night’s victory in the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway was a first for Martin Truex Jr.—and more of the same for Joe Gibbs Racing.

Truex won his first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race on a short track in his 81st try and in the process picked up his first victory with Joe Gibbs Racing since moving from now-defunct Furniture Row Racing between seasons.

At the same time, Truex gave JGR its third straight victory in NASCAR’s top series and sixth in nine races this season. Joey Logano finished .178 seconds behind the race winner, as Gibbs and Team Penske maintained their stranglehold on the premier division. Penske drivers Logano and Brad Keselowski triumphed in the three races JGR hasn’t won.

THE FRATERNAL ORDER OF THE GO FAST

We had one player who has kept the faith that Martin Truex, Jr. would break his Zero-For-Eighty short track winless streak! That player, who bet the farm that Truex would come home victorious at Richmond, was Carole, aka Rudy. Rudy must have contacted the deceased Miss Cleo prior to the season starting and was notified to “bet the farm” on Truex at Richmond, and for doing so she was rewarded with 57 points!

THE MOVERS AND THE SHAKERS

The Lindas squared, Linda R. The Lemonade Lefty and Linda B. The Cookie Mom, as well as Bobby Blue Crush were all packed away into the copilot’s seat of Joey Logano’s hot rod at Richmond. Their just reward for being cramped and riding the entire race in the copilot’s seat was a cool 54 points!

Meanwhile Snoopy Dawn and Amber the Extremely Lucky Cheddar Head were in full support of “Freaky Fast” Kevin Harvick. Both Ladies were under the false impression that Harvick would be driving his hot rod into Victory Lane, nevertheless they each received 48 points from Harvick’s 4th place finish.

Kathy The Church Forecloser and Jim, aka Chiefy, were rooting for “Blazingly Bad” Brad Keselowski to continue his winning way this season. However, “Blazingly Bad Brad”, just didn’t did have anything for Truex at Richmond. both players were rewarded with 42 points for Brad K’s 5th place finish.

Rounding out the top five scorers this week is Karen The Highly Opinionated Southern Belle and Dan the Numbers Cruncher. Both players were supporting the driver formally known as “The Outlaw”, aka Kurt Busch. The Opinionated One and The Numbers Dude added 34 points to their totals via KuBu’s 7th place finish.

This week there wasn’t any large scale movement, but sixteen of the eighteen players did move either next door, or just down the block a place or two. However we do have a brand new leader this week, Linda R. the Lemonade Lefty!

The biggest mover this week is Carole, aka Rudy. Rudy rocketed up the leaderboard four (4) places to land in 3rd place this week.

The next quartet of players moved three (3) places. That group of four players consists of Jeremy The Coach, Amber The Extremely Lucky Cheddar Head, Snoopy Dawn, and Carlton The Doorman. Both The Cheddar Head and Snoopy climbed up three places to now reside in 8th and 10 places, respectively. Whereas The Coach and The Doorman tumbled and fell three places to now sit in 5th and 11th places, respectively.

One half of the fantasy league, nine players, moved two spots this week. Those nine players includes Linda R. the Lemonade Lefty, Bobby Blue Crush, Dan The Numbers Cruncher, Karen The Highly Opinionated Southern Belle, Edie The Las Vegas Super Star, Linda B. The Cookie Mom, Jim, aka Chiefy, David the Mudslinging Throttle Jockey, and Wild Bill the Pretzel Man. The Lemonade Lefty, Blue Crush, The Cookie Mom, and Chiefy all climbed up two spots sitting now in 1st, 4th, 14th, and 15th, respectively. But The Numbers Dude, The Opinionated One, The Las Vegas Super Star, The throttle Jockey, as well as The Pretzel Dude all fell two spots to sit in 6th, 7th, 12th, 16th, and 17th places, respectively.

STRAIGHT FROM THE CRAPPER

This was one of these races where the crappiest pick of the week winner really had a decent race. Edie The Las Vegas Super Star racked up 22 points, which any other week would be a decent number to put in your column. Unfortunately, this week it gives your “The Crappiest Pick of The Week” award!

Once again Kathy The Church Forecloser remains in “The Outhouse”! Rumor has it that she has ordered up some interior redesigning for this week!

Next week MENCS has the week off.

TIL NEXT TIME, PULL YOUR BELTS TIGHT AND LET’S GO RACIN’!
