Alex Bowman

Alex Bowman captured his first career Monster Energy Series victory by outdueling Kyle Larson in the final laps of the Camping World 400 at Chicagoland Speedway on Sunday.

Bowman recaptured the lead from Larson with six laps remaining, battling back after the No. 42 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet had zoomed past two laps earlier.

Bowman, 26, is in his second full season driving the No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet, and had finished second for three consecutive races earlier this season. The win also marks Hendrick Motorsports’ first time in Victory Lane since Chase Elliott won at Talladega in April.

Larson finished second at the 1.5-mile Chicago-area track for the second consecutive year. Joey Logano, Jimmie Johnson and Brad Keselowski rounded out the top five.

Kevin Harvick dominated much of the race early, leading a race-high 132 laps in his No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford before a scrape of the wall sent him to pit road late in the final stage.

Bowman led 88 laps in his No. 88 Chevrolet.

Defending race winner Kyle Busch battled an array of problems that began when he clipped the wall in Stage 1; he finished 22nd.

THE FRATERNAL ORDER OF THE GO FAST

We have one player this week, Linda B. The Cookie Mom, who was all in with the 2019 three-time bridesmaid, and Chicagoland dark horse, Alex Bowman. Bowman The Showman finally got the monkey off of his back and showed the big dogs that he is no longer hanging out on the porch. He just showed them that he is ready mix it up with all of them! The Cookie Mom added a much needed 49 points to her second segment bucket.

THE MOVERS AND THE SHAKERS

Scoring right behind The Cookie Mom was Dan The Numbers Cruncher. The Numbers Dude racked up 46 points from Mr. Seven-Time, Jimmie Johnson, and his great finish of 4th place.

Meanwhile, Snoopy Dawn accumulated 43 points at Chicago. Snoopy was riding shotgun with “Easy Money”, Kyle Larson, all day and was privy to some mighty fine racing in the closing stages of the race!

Almost not to be outdone, David The Mudslinging Throttle Jockey thought that it would be a good day to hang out with “Blazingly Bad” Brad Keselowski. As it turned out The Throttle Jockey was correct in his assumption and racked up 41 points to his bucket this week.

Rounding out the top five scorers is a trio consisting of Kathy The Church Forecloser, Amber The Extremely Lucky Cheddar Head, and Bobby Blue Crush. These three players were all betting the farm on Martin Truex, Jr. this weekend and were rewarded with a nifty 38 points to their totals.

There was a lot of movement this week, however, most of the movement were very small address changes as opposed to huge swaps in positions.

The largest mover this week is Jim, aka Chiefy. With Chiefy’s 17 point score it was inevitable that he was going to slide with the tide! He plummeted three spots to now sit in 15th place.

Next on the chopping block for discussion is a foursome consisting of Linda B. The Cookie Mom, Linda R. The Lemonade Lefty, Kilimanjaro Bobby, and Lonna The Quilt Angel all moving two places. Both The Cookie Mom and Bobby Blue Crush climbed up two spots to rest in 3rd and 12th places, respectively. However, The Lemonade Lefty and The Quilt Angel did not fair so well. Both ladies tumbled and fell two places to now sit in 5th and 18th, respectively.

The remaining seven players, nearly one half of the fantasy league, moved up or down one position this week.

STRAIGHT FROM THE CRAPPER

This week Lonna The Quilt Angel receives a rare two-fer-one award! The Quilt Angel was only able to muster up a microscopic single digit score. She only added one (1) point to her totals this week and therefore is the recipient of “The Crappiest Pick of The Week”. Additionally, she evicted David The Mudslinging Throttle Jockey from “The Outhouse” this week, taking over sole control!

Next week NASCAR returns to where the season started Daytona International Speedway.

TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
