Joey Logano

This weekend NASCAR makes its annual southbound return to Daytona International Speedway for the traditional 4th of July, mid summer, race weekend and huge party. The season is rapidly winding down, the end of “the regular season” is quickly approaching, and The Playoffs are just round the corner.

There are just nine (9) races left in the regular season. This is the time when the contenders and pretenders are defined. It is time for Stewart-Haas Racing drivers to mash the loud pedal and secure a few victories, if they are to be taken as serious contenders. Likewise, it is also time for all the Hendrick drivers to get equally serious bout winning races. Mr. Seven-Time needs to show that he is not a pretender, and can win races!

It is time to see just who can run with the big dogs of Joe Gibbs Racing and Team Penske. And the saying goes, “if you can’t run with the big dogs, stay back up on the porch”!

OUR DAYTONA CHOICES

Many in The Redneck Fantasy League believe that “Sliced Bread” can lead the pack to the checkered flag this weekend at Daytona. One third of the fantasy league, six players in total, are hanging out with Joey Logano. Those six players include Karen The Highly Opinionated Southern Belle, Carlton The Doorman, Jeremy The Coach, Bobby Blue Crush, Dan the Numbers Cruncher, and Wild Bill The Pretzel Man. This group of players are betting the farm that they can ride with Logano all the way to Victory Lane.

We have three drivers that have a rooting section of two drivers each at Daytona.

Both Kathy the Church Forecloser and Amber The Extremely Lucky Cheddar Head are riding shotgun with the winless Stewart-Haas Racing driver, Kevin Harvick. The Forecloser and The Cheddar Head are all in and hoping that they can participate in Harvick’s first 2019 victory.

Snoopy Dawn and Linda R. The Lemonade Lefty are rooting for, and putting all their marbles into, Ryan Newman’s marble sack at Daytona.

Lastly Carole, aka Rudy and Linda B. The Cookie Mom would love to see Martin Truex, Jr. add another victory to his 2019 resume.

For all you math majors who have added up the number of players who share a passion for a driver this week, you will notice that there were 12 players mentioned. That leaves six player who are in bidnez for themselves this week.

Good luck to all!

TIL NEXT TIME, PULL YOUR BELTS TIGHT AND LET’S GO RACIN’!
