Alex Bowman

Alex Bowman “The Showman” dominates Auto Club Speedway!

Bowman had a new nose for the finish line Sunday at Auto Club Speedway.

Driving the No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet — a sleeker version of the Camaro with a new front fascia — Bowman ran away with the final stage of the Auto Club 400 at the two-mile track in the Inland Empire.

In picking up his second career victory and his first in Fontana, California, Bowman led five times for 110 of the 200 laps in the third NASCAR Cup Series event of the 2020 season. He grabbed the top spot on Lap 133, gave it up briefly during a cycle of green-flag pit stops midway through the final run and regained it for the final time on Lap 167 when Brad Keselowski gave up the lead to come to pit road.

After Ryan Blaney — running second at the time — was forced to pit with three laps left because of a corded right rear tire, Bowman crossed the finish line 8.904 seconds ahead of runner-up Kyle Busch, who made a solid run forward from his 17th starting position.

THE FRATERNAL ORDER OF THE GO FAST

This is the third week in a row that no player was hanging with the race winner, in this case “Bowman The Showman”. So once again this award goes back into the closet!

THE MOVERS AND SHAKERS

A fivesome, nearly one half of the fantasy league, are the highest scorers this week at ACS. Those players consist of Bernie The Bay Area Bandit, Linda The Cookie Mom, Edie The Las Vegas Super Star, Snoopy Dawn, as well as Leon Your Most Humble Sheriff. Each of these players added 40 much needed points to their totals. Four of the five players were rooting for “The Shrub”, aka Kyle Busch. While The Las Vegas Super Star was the sole player rooting for the senior Busch, Kurt.

Not to be outdone this week is Jim, aka Chiefy, and Amber The Extremely Lucky Cheddar Head. Both of these players were stashed into the copilot’s seat in the Joe Gibbs Racing No. 11 FedEx Toyota along with Denny Hamlin. Each of them pocketed 34 points when the checkered flag waved at Fontana.

Rounding out the to three scorers this is a foursome that includes Carlton The Doorman, Jeremy The Coach, Carole, aka Rudy, and Dan The Numbers Cruncher. Everyone had Joey Logano as their driver this week, with the exception of The Coach, who was betting the farm on Martin Truex, Jr. Nevertheless, all four players added 29 points to their totals.

Only three players remained in their previous zip codes after Auto Club Speedway. The biggest mover this week is Carole, aka Rudy. Rudy fell from grace and dropped out of the lead, falling three (3) places, and is resting in 4th place this week.

Both Bernie The Bay Area Bandit and Carlton The Doorman moved two (2) spots this week. The Bandit climbed up tow places to take over the lead, while The Doorman slid down to sit in 7th place this week.

Four players, Snoopy Dawn, Leon Your Most Humble Sheriff, Linda The Cookie Mom, and Edie The Vegas Super Star moved one position. All four stepped their game up and ascended the leaderboard resting in 3rd, tied for 5th for The Cookie Mom and Your Most Humble Sheriff, and 10th place respectively.

STRAIGHT FROM THE CRAPPER
